Mil Risas worked with X-Event, a well-established Japanese event planning company that specializes in immersive public events, to make this project a reality.
To do this, the team added interactive LED floor lighting for the outdoor play area, so that both adults and children could experience the lighting effects up close. Each step triggered changing colors, turning the floor into a fun, visually engaging, and interactive space.
Through this project, Mil Risas shows how LED flooring solutions for outdoor play areas can enhance temporary events, boost commercial promotions, and improve public entertainment spaces.
Overview
To stand out from increasingly similar night events, X Event Planning needed a way to delight both adults and children without going over budget. To achieve this, the team partnered with mil risas and introduced the Light Up Game — an innovative setup combining glowing play equipment with immersive lighting. As a result, the venue became a lively, photo-ready space filled with laughter, playful energy, and memorable moments, showing a new way for audiences to enjoy nighttime gatherings in Yokohama.

Why Were Yokohama’s Night Events Losing Their Spark?
As nighttime events become more frequent and start to look alike, clients often feel their events lack originality. Lighting, rides, and props look almost the same from one event to another. In today’s social media era, without eye-catching visuals, events struggle to go viral. Meanwhile, clients expect more, but budgets remain tight.
Many parents bring their children to these events. Adults may focus on the stage, but without interactive activities, children quickly lose interest and urge their parents to leave. Temporary setups cost a lot and take time to dismantle, and many installations are used only once, making it hard for companies to turn them into long-term assets or unique intellectual property.
At the same time, safety and risk cannot be ignored. Poor-quality facilities can be extremely dangerous. Event organizers must carefully consider structural safety, child protection, nighttime electrical safety, waterproofing, load-bearing capacity, and environmental sustainability.

Yes. Because they are interactive light-up installations rather than purely decorative, they encourage active participation—especially from families. This naturally increases dwell time, distributes crowds across the venue, and creates visually engaging moments that are highly shareable on social media.
